About me
I have 13 years experience helping individuals and families recover from substance use, anxiety, depression, and grief. I am licensed in North and South Carolina, and accept several insurance plans.
Hey there! I'm Jennifer and I'm glad you are here. My style can be described as curious, warm, humorous, open-minded, and practical. I create a non-judgmental atmosphere that welcomes all identities and backgrounds. I am supportive of BIPOC/LGBTQIA communities and believe every person is inherently worthy and deserving of respect. I have experience treating anxiety disorders including PTSD, Panic Disorder, and Phobias; depressive disorders, relationship issues, grief and loss, alcohol and drug addiction, and many other areas including general life dissatisfaction.
I am a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist and provide tools to help people quit using tobacco/nicotine products, in addition to collaborating with their physician regarding smoking cessation medications.
I help family members who are dealing with a loved one experiencing addiction, by teaching positive communication skills that help them cope, as well as increase the chances their loved one will enter treatment.
I also am passionate about supporting individuals who are experiencing some form of workplace abuse or bullying.
I have been trained in many areas, but primarily use Internal Family Systems, which is a transformative, holistic, body-oriented way of working with difficult aspects of ourselves in order to bring healing to our system, which results in moving through life with more clarity, confidence, and compassion. This therapy also focuses on values - the guiding principles for what you want your life to be about. Ultimately, I will work with each client to use whatever method is the best fit. I teach practical skills that a person can take with them the rest of their life.
