About me
My passion to empower clients of all ages, ethnicities, and sexual orientations to live a more fulfilling and engaged life guides my interactions with them.
Over the past 25 years, I have observed that living a fulfilled life is possible regardless of the intensity of one’s struggles. I have also found that blending the perspectives of Mindfulness and Psychotherapy can support and empower people to live a more fulsome and meaningful life. My therapeutic style combines the ethical values of mindfulness with the deeper personal aspects of psychotherapy to build emotional resilience, and help people interact in the world with greater poise, integrity, and humanity.
Through my work with people of different ages, genders, and personal circumstances, I have discovered that untreated emotional distress has the tendency to become physical illness. This appears to be true especially, when the source of that distress is chronic, occurring daily in families or at work. My additional training in mindfulness-based stress-reduction (MBSR) and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) with its creator, Zindel Segal, supports me to help people react to chronic stress less, and engage in life more.
Additionally, my training in epidemiology provides an understanding of disease progression and prevention. These unique and powerful approaches combine to address both the mental and physical aspects of health. I believe that a holistic approach to therapy is relevant for those who are currently experiencing a crisis, as well as those who are not necessarily ill, but have noticed that the wear and tear of stress has drained their life of its liveliness. My work addresses these concerns with a mind-body perspective that leads to improvement in relationships, vitality, and a greater sense of well-being.
