About me

For over 28 years, I have worked with clients from 5 to 95 years old in a variety of settings with difficulties such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, Bi-Polar disorders and Trauma.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I graduated from The University of Texas at Arlington, with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Master's of Science in Social Work. Over the past 28 years, I have worked with children as young as 5 to geriatrics, in a variety of settings. My experience includes, medical and psychiatric hospitals, child welfare and private practice.

My private practice focuses on individuals struggling with concerns such as; trauma, depression, anxiety, ADHD, relationship issues and parenting problems. Together, we will discuss how to best address your issues using a holistic process. With a Trauma Informed approach I combine Client-Centered, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy with Somatic Therapy and Mindfulness techniques, among others, to tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.

Many of the clients I see are struggling with difficulties in the present, that stem from the past. As we grow from children to adults, we develop coping strategies and defense mechanisms to help us "survive" the world. Sometimes those skills can be more harmful than effective, creating the conflict or pressure in the present. Education is vital to understanding the how's and why's of our responses in the present, to effectively impact change. Not only will you learn positive coping strategies for the PRESENT, but we can explore your body and mind's response to stressful situations that can contribute to your responses and reactions in the present.

After 28 years, I have become quite eclectic in my approach to treatment, which helps me to identify each persons learning styles and nuances to create skills and strategies that meet the individual needs for each of my clients. While not every individual has experienced trauma, every human has experienced fear. Helping my clients to understand how the "Fear Response" drives our our body's chemical reactions to situations and subsequently our conscious and unconscious thoughts related to fear, is very important to help individuals understand how and why their thoughts and actions are connected. This new awareness, then creates a foundation for each individual to become more empowered to create change, as they learn new skills to improve their actions, reactions and thoughts.

Acknowledging that you may need some assistance is the first step, asking for help is the second. Whatever your struggle, I will listen. It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you. I look forward to working with you!
