About me

Welcome - I'm delighted you checked out my profile! My approach is process-oriented - I love discovering the complexities of each individual, making connections between past & present, identifying patterns, and working through overwhelming emotions to support growth and healing. Together we can discover the origins or root of your concerns - I love facilitating the "deep dive" with an inquisitive, exploratory approach and I lead with curiosity.

Generally, this is where I might tell you about my qualifications as a therapist, listing out the trainings I’ve attended and describing the types of therapy I use in sessions. More on that in a moment, but first let’s start with what’s at the core of my clinical practice: the interpersonal connection between therapist and client.

What you can expect from working with me is more than treatment modalities and therapeutic interventions: it’s a relationship. I find that the single most impactful aspect of therapy is the way we relate to one another (and the science supports that statement!). In order to do meaningful work together, we have to “get” each other. I uphold an unwavering respect for the worth of each person and I arrive at each meeting with authenticity, compassion, and curiosity. My style incorporates humility, humor, sincerity, creativity, candor, and curse words.

In sessions, you’ll notice a balance. Together we’ll explore and process emotional experiences while also identifying and implementing tangible skills and coping strategies. We’ll work to heal old wounds while also addressing the here-and-now. We’ll fortify the areas of life that are going well, and we’ll build new ways of being to create change in the areas that aren’t.

My areas of interest include identity development, relationships, adjusting to life transitions, and sex and sexuality. I enjoy working with adults ranging in age, and I particularly enjoy working with young professionals and graduate students. My approach integrates elements of humanist theory as well as mindfulness, person-centered, and narrative therapies. I also see couples wanting to enhance their relationships, utilizing an Emotionally-Focused Couple therapy approach (EFT) that focuses on attachment styles and working with emotions in-depth. In my experience, therapy is most effective when both the therapist and the client are active, engaged, and committed to the process of healing and growth.

Outside the office, you can find me going for walks around town, hanging out in nature, savoring sunny afternoon naps with the cat, or throwing raging solo dance parties in the living room (TV remote microphone included).

I’m currently seeing clients in-person at our Athens location, and virtually throughout Georgia. I consider it a privilege to bear witness to my clients’ stories – I look forward to witnessing yours.
