My approach is creative and affirming, focusing on strengths and obstacles as you define them and the world around you. I incorporate Feminist therapy, Liberation psychotherapy, Existential psychology, and Buddhist psychology. I draw from a foundation in trauma-informed-care, and am committed to continue to grow in my multicultural competence. I am person-centered and, taking cues from you, will likely weave creative expression into our process. I have many years' experience with evidence-based practices as a hospital therapist, on both the psychiatric and the medical sides. I bring a background in art and museums and passion for equity and inclusion to my work. I encourage the use of art (looking, exploring, and making) in my therapeutic process, and also lean upon a range of approaches from traditional talk therapy. I am licensed in Washington State as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and am nationally certified by the Art Therapy Credentials Board as an art therapist (ATR).
Maybe at one point it all made sense — your feelings, sensations, and reactions (even the dark and heightened ones) felt known and even comforting. Now you are looking for a new way to endure and thrive. If you are someone who believes that each of us know our own wounds, that we possess a strong inner wisdom, and that we have the ability to access the latent potential to grow and change – or, you want to believe – you will find a good fit with me and my therapeutic offerings.
