About me

Do you often feel weighed down by feelings of stress or anxiety? Together, we will work on strategies that allow you to address the root causes of your difficulties and build meaningful answers to help you move forward. I’m interested in helping you be successful. My goal is to help you accomplish your goals, to be successful in therapy, and see the outside world in new ways. My style is interactive, non-judgmental, and trauma informed. It is my priority that you feel safe, heard, and feel like an equal partner in the therapeutic process. I'm passionate about my work, and most of all, enthusiastically looking forward to the opportunity to work together.

Hillary Hartnett earned her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Canisius College. Hillary’s experience includes higher education, telehealth, and non-profit outpatient clinics. She is a humanistic, person-centered, and eclectic therapist. Hillary is well versed in working with clients across the lifespan, with diverse backgrounds, and a wide range of client concerns. Rooted in self-compassion work, Hillary helps to identify self-critical narratives in self-dialogue to help clients unblock stuck points and begin to reach their full potential. She believes in treating every person as a whole, taking into account the multifaceted mental, physical, and social factors, rather than just treating symptoms at face value. Her belief in the mind-body connection gives Hillary unique and effective insights into the counseling process overall. Her work is carefully tailored to each client's needs.

Hillary's approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, an evidence-based approach that focuses on helping clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected, so that they can begin to make targeted change. She works to help clients understand their physical response to external stressors, and begin to problem-solve ways to introduce moments of calm, to choose to respond rather than react in the face of change. By working together, you can begin to spark authentic positive changes that can be implemented right away.
