I have been practicing for over 10 years in community mental health and schools in the Bay Area. I'm passionate about helping emerging adults navigate life transitions, family conflict, depression and anxiety. My goal is to strengthen their self-esteem and motivation to live a healthy authentic life and to be ready to thrive.

Hi my name is Heidi Hernandez, I am a second generation Filipino American and a first generation college graduate. As a child of immigrant parents, I struggled with managing the influences of two cultures with the added stress of navigating what it means to have intersecting LGBTQ identities. My experiences led me to a career in mental health representing marginalized communities and helping emerging adults cope with life transitions, family conflict, and generational/cultural issues. I am passionate about helping young adults to live authentically with improved self-esteem and motivation to thrive.

I have been practicing for over 10 years in community mental health agencies and K-12 schools. I provided therapy to youth and adults between ages of 6 and 60. If you are experiencing issues with feeling unmotivated or overwhelmed with life transitions in your work, school or social life, I can help you increase motivation to take the next steps towards your goals. If you are having trouble with relationships or making friends, I can help you build confidence and skills in communication and navigating social situations. If you tend to self criticize, become overwhelmed with indecision, or worry excessively about the future I can help you break through negative thought patterns and unlock a more compassionate and realistic view of yourself and be more in tuned with the present moment. If you can relate to any of these situations, please don't hesitate to contact me. Therapy can be scary if its your first time, second or third time. I can be there every step of the way as your supporter, ally, and coach as we begin this new path together toward a healthier and happier life.

I am an advocate committed to mental health promotion and celebration of the strengths and beauty of people in marginalized communities. I honor cultural strengths and beliefs and recognize the impact of racial injustice and trauma. I respectfully seek to understand the cultural lenses from which clients view their systems and presenting issues through.

I am committed to my own self healing and understanding of my intersecting identities and engaging in authentic relationships cross-culturally with diverse communities. I am a life long learner and actively pursue open dialogue, continuing education and experiences to strengthen skills, awareness, understanding, and empathy.
