About me
Hello! It is a pleasure to meet you and to be able to introduce myself. My name is Farrah Pece (she / her / hers). I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) in the State of Illinois. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) in Psychology from Aurora University and my Master of Science degree (M.S.) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from National-Louis University.
I have enjoyed working in a variety of settings in the mental health field focused on serving the needs of adults, adolescents and older children. My professional background includes working as a inpatient counselor at a behavioral health hospital, a crisis worker responding to individuals in mental health crisis within the community, domestic violence and sexual assault case manager, and as an outpatient therapist working in a non-profit setting. My experience has allowed me to treat individuals with a variety of presenting issues including depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, trauma-informed care including treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder resulting from domestic abuse, accidents, assaults, and natural disasters, and difficulties with life adjustments.
I use a strength-based approach and believe that every individual has a set of unique strengths and abilities that can help them through life’s difficulties. I believe strengths are just as important to discuss in therapy as are the so-called “presenting issues” which brought you into therapy in the first place. I have a great appreciation for other people and my treatment is viewed through a multicultural perspective which allows me to have awareness and sensitivity to my clients’ diverse backgrounds and experiences. I use the following evidence-based approaches to therapy: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).
I reside in the suburbs of Chicago with my fiance and two dogs. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family, traveling, and learning new things. My newest hobby is learning Spanish which I can understand well, but am learning to speak fluently. I look forward to meeting you and helping you find your strengths and overcome life’s difficulties!
