About me
I am an experience psychotherapist who works adolescents and adults, dealing with issues related to eating disorders, body image concerns, addiction, depression, anxiety, and life transitions. I teach my clients how to manage the various obstacles, both big and small, that can arise in their life. I have experience working in various treatment levels and understand the importance of assessing each individual for the most appropriate level of care.
I have an integrative approach to counseling and I pull from a humanistic, cognitive behavioral, and mindfulness orientation. Additionally, I am LGTBQIA2S+ ally and a HAES (Health at Every Size) aligned provider. (To find out more about HAES, you can visit https://haescommunity.com/). I believe that the therapeutic relationship can be a powerful source of change and that without a safe, strong relationship, progress is often hindered. I believe in meeting the client where they are and tailoring services to each individual’s unique needs. Within therapy, I primarily focus on what matters to my client and what may be getting in the way of them living in accordance with their values. Furthermore, I believe problems also arise through negative beliefs and maladaptive behaviors. I believe that, typically, it is not the situation itself that causes distress, but the negative thoughts triggered by the situation and the maladaptive behaviors the individual has learned to use to cope with those thoughts. My goal is to assist clients in identifying these irrational thoughts and behaviors and help them develop more adaptive thoughts and behaviors to help them live a healthier life. I also believe that self-care is extremely important for both clients and health care providers. Self-care activities that I enjoy are reading, hiking, and spending time with loved ones.
