Are you an artist, entertainer, or creative professional looking to address your mental health? I specialize in helping creatives to reach their potential in their personal and professional lives.
I specialize in working with artists and creatives looking to address their mental health, and thrive creatively and personally. My passion for working with this population comes from my own prior experience working in the arts, making me particularly in tune to their needs. My goal is to help my clients live fulfilling lives, not lives of hardship or turmoil. I do not believe you need to be miserable to be an artist. Together we can explore the unique challenges that being an artist presents to one's mental health, and find solutions together.
Some of the specific needs that come up in my practice are ones of identity, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, work/life balance, career transition, relationships, and life purpose. I feel it is important to acknowledge that being an artist is not just a career, it is also who you are. I bring this personal understanding with me into the room, and it deeply changes the type of therapy possible.
My approach differs from other clinicians, not just because of my history in the arts, but because of the active role I take in sessions. I want my clients to know we are in this process together. That means I often speak up in session to ask my clients questions that will help them gain insight, and to explore their true therapeutic needs. I then examine each client’s individual needs, and provide education and tangible coping tools when clients are looking for more direction in therapy. I believe in creating a treatment approach that is catered to each individual client, and that each client also has strengths that they may not realize they are already utilizing.
Most importantly, I believe the magic of therapy comes from the special connection between therapist and client. Having a brief free consultation call is a great way to see if it could be a good fit, and to get any questions you may have answered.
