About me
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therpist and I help individuals anf families with relational conflict, anxiety, and addictive behaviors to achieve healthier communication, understanding and peace.
My name is Liz Sherman. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, in the northern part of Metro-Denver. In my practice I work with couples, families, and individuals living with substance use disorders, anxiety, and relational issues. If you want a committed and compassionate therapist who is dedicated to helping you meet your goals, I can help you.
I offer clients direct and caring insight to help them achieve their goals. I approach our time together with compassion, support, empathy and sometimes humor.
“I can stop anytime I want to.” “My use isn’t hurting anyone!” It started off as a way to relax and unwind at the end of a long day. Maybe a few drinks at Happy Hour or a party, just a couple puffs before heading out to feel normal. Now it is everyday, maybe many times a day- just to get through the day. The financial burden is worsening, and it is harder and harder to hide it from friends and family. People might even be starting to talk behind your back. Your friends and family are worried, and maybe they don’t trust you anymore.
Have you blown out the candles on your birthday cake, wishing for a “do over”? Do you find yourself “holding off” on starting new projects until you ‘know more’? Replaying conversations with others thinking of what you could have said and done differently, wondering if you sounded “stupid” or “uncool”. Spending weeks or months gathering information before starting a project or task—just so that you don’t HAVE to start the project.
Do you sit at the dinner table night after night deafened by the silence? Do you lay awake in bed at night thinking of a way to reconnect? Having a family wasn’t supposed to be this hard, remembering all the giggles and conversations that used to fill the house. The long tuck-ins at night and listening as they talked about their day. Spending hours lost in conversation with your partner. And now they feel like a stranger. There is hope! Things can change.
I believe therapy works best when we have a relationship based in trust and understanding. During our time together you expect a supportive environment where we can collaborate together to achieve your goals for the future.
