About me
I am an experienced individual and family counselor who is dedicated to supporting all people in healing their relationships and taking control of their emotions and life.
No matter what has happened, there is a pathway to peace and hope. I am honored to be your guide and support on that path. I naturally will see the good in you and together we will build on your strengths and learn tools for overcoming obstacles. There is freedom from the past.
I have my BS in Social Work from Utah State University and my Master’s in Counseling and Development, with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Counseling from Lamar University in Texas. I have over twenty years’ experience working in the social work and mental health fields. I am a member of the IAAOC (International Association of Addictions and Offender Counselor Issues) which relates to my work supporting individuals in overcoming addictions and/or criminal justice issues. I am also a Level Two trained Gottman’s Couple Therapist and Prepare/Enrich facilitator for engaged, cohabitating or married couples.
My expertise consists in working with assertiveness training, male issues, teenagers in the foster care system, domestic violence and rape survivors, suicide ideation, disordered eating, chemical dependency, and relationship conflict. I have significant experience working with children, teens, and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, and trauma. I am passionate about using an integrative approach to promote healing and wellness in the therapeutic process.
My judgement-free and honest approach creates a safe space for cultivating positive outcomes. I support clients in problem-solving, creating balance, and setting healthy boundaries. I honor diversity and advocate for those whose voices are not always heard. I believe in taking the privilege life has given me and using it to empower others to increase their own rights, privileges, and status. I am LGBTQ affirming and have become skilled at building rapport with a diverse client population.
