I specialize in working with individuals, couples, and families who have experienced anxiety, depression, communications issues, and trauma. This trauma, anxiety, depression, communications issues generally appear as addiction, shame, guilt, low self-esteem, or interpersonal conflicts. I work with my clients to move past their trauma, anxiety, depression, communications issues and develop hope. I am dedicated to being culturally informed and tailoring therapy to each individual’s needs in my practice.
Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Be kind to yourself and your mind. Nothing in this world can bother us as much as our minds. Sometimes life’s challenges become overwhelming and upset the people around us and us. When these challenges become overwhelming, you don’t have to manage them alone. I provide a non-judgmental, holistic environment and make you feel heard in therapy. If needed, I use reflective listening paraphrasing to make sure I understand your concerns and provide you with evidence-based tools and techniques to work with the challenges you are dealing with. I provide genuine support, and sometimes it can be direct to challenge your thought process. I will empower you and walk with you as you work towards your goal, feel confident and emotionally strong, and synchronized.
I received training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, an evidence-based modality that helps clients’ brains get “unstuck” from trauma in their past, and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy to help clients with OCD. In addition, I took advanced training on treating OCD and Eating disorders. I also utilize Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) in sessions with clients to support a growing awareness of how thoughts inform mood and behaviors. Clients develop their goals for therapy, and I teach the skills necessary to reach those goals.
Besides working with my clients, I enjoy teaching, listening to music, going on hikes or long walks by the beach, and playing with my fur babies.
