About me
I am licensed as a mental health clinician in three states, Mississippi, Virginia, and Georgia. I provide psychotherapeutic services to individuals, couples, and family seeking mental stability as it relates to depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance abuse, ADHD, DMDD, and other childhood behavior issues.
Dr. Cooks graduated from the Quitman Consolidated high school in 1984. She attended Meridian Community College, formerly (Meridian Junior College) in 1985 for a university transfer in Social Work. In 2001, She received her first bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 2004, a Master’s Degree in Counseling Education in 2008, a second Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 2010 all from Mississippi State University. She received her Doctoral Degree in Professional Counseling from the Department of Counseling Education and Psychology at Mississippi Christian College in 2020. Dr. Cooks is a Board Certified Telemental Health Provider. She has a certification in Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASDCS). She is foremost a Christian clinician above all the rest. She has counseling licenses in three states: Mississippi since 2009, Virginia since 2015, and Georgia since 2016. Dr. Cooks is a Board Qualified Supervisor (BQS) certification number 206 in which she trains other counselors. Dr. Cooks wrote her dissertation as a clinical case study titled: “Treating ADHD in African American Males.” She has over 15 years of mental health experience. She has 20 years of experience working with children with serious emotional disturbance (SED). She has a private practice, P&P Counseling Services. She has two practice locations in Quitman, MS, and Brandon, MS. Dr. Cooks specialty areas are Children and Adolescents with behavioral issues such as Attention Deficient, Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD), and adjustment disorders. Dr. Cooks also provides therapeutic services for family, individual, couples and group counseling for clients struggling with depression, anxieties, PTSD, addiction, marital discord and personality disorders.
