About me
Hi! I am glad you are here. I am an experienced therapist who is dedicated to helping people process through a variety of losses and grief.
I believe we all experience change and loss by virtue of being in this world and in relationships. Transition, loss, and the experience of grief will affect every person through various moment in life. I strive to understand each person’s unique experience with these transitions. At times, these changes and losses are unexpected and sometimes unwanted events throw us off track or render us feeling hopeless. I have a keen interest in how people construct meaning in their lives, especially in the wake of loss and transition. I enjoy working with people seeking ways to adapt, thrive, and create meaning within themselves, while coping with losses including death, loss of relationships, illness, and many other life transitions andor ambiguous losses.
I practice psychotherapy from a relational psychodynamic perspective which means fostering a meaningful and safe relationship to uncover, explore, and identify internal strength, and stability. This also means increasing awareness of how lifelong patterns help or hinder how we function in relationships and navigate the world. I admire and use practices from many therapeutic traditions. I rely on my knowledge in existentialist and humanistic approaches, the humor and practicality of solution focused methods, and the heart-centered practices of mindfulness, and modern brain science which provides an invaluable perspective. I strive to create an environment in which my clients can safely explore beyond the personal and social boundaries of what is “possible,” “permissible,” “accepted,” and “normal.”
I am sex positive, LGBTQ+ aware and multiculturally competent. I do not underestimate the impact of socio-cultural and political movements on the individual and the interplay between them and one’s inner life and relationships.
My primary goal in the therapeutic process is to actively assist you in reaching a better understanding of the underlying conflicts and meaning around your situation by helping you gain some objective distance around your concern in relation to your larger context. Self-awareness alone has complex positive effects. I believe change is possible through this kind of understanding and acceptance of oneself.
Your confidentiality is the utmost of importance. Creating a safe space to be genuine and authentic in your experience will be my priority. I believe without a safe space healing will be halted. We will work together to create emotional safety for you.
I am honored to speak with you and determine if we are good fit based on your needs and goals. Please reach out for a free 15 minute consultation.
