About me
I welcome adults and couples to help you heal from the inside out, shining a light on patterns, strengths and weaknesses, and figuring out how to create a meaningful relationship with yourself and others. I am a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) with 29 years of experience in private practice. Online or phone only.
All of us are in relationship, not just with other people, but ourselves as well. Whether you're struggling with a relationship with yourself (lack of self worth, depression, trauma and PTSD, anxiety, etc) or with a spouse, partner, coworker, son/daughter, friend, and parent, you can get unhooked from the sticky stuff, and iron out some of the wrinkles. I am a very engaged therapist; that means I don't sit and nod and ask you 'how do you feel about that?' You also won't find me being bossy or insisting you take a particular course of action. As a therapist, I am a good listener, easy to talk to, empathic , respectful, and nonjudgmental. You won't have to worry about hurting my feelings or making me mad in the way you might with a family member or friend who may have a bias. I will teach you skills, if necessary, such as dealing with difficult feelings, regulating big emotions, how to support yourself minus the critical self talk, how to ask for your needs/wants to be met, resolve conflict less stressfully, shore up your communication skills, and more. One of the best indicators for 'successful' therapy is the match between you and I. You have a right to disagree, to tell me I'm not getting you, or that my suggestion isn't workable for you. Yes, I have learned from the education I have gotten and the experience I have. An often overlooked benefit is learning from my clients. Any decisions about your counseling will be made with the two (or three) of us in it together. I recognize that we are not carbon copies of one another, that what works for one may not for you. It helps me to know a number of things about you and your situation so I can offer help in a way that suits you. I don't like cookie cutter approaches; I guess you probably don't either.
