About me
I specialize in working with families and couples.
In addition, I have chosen to focus on addiction recovery as well as supporting clients in building resources and resilience in response to traumatic experiences.
Aloha!! I am delighted to be on this sight sharing my various offerings with you.
As I briefly mentioned, I specialize in and find great joy when working with families and couples.
I believe we must consider and tend to the "systems" we are a part of, for enduring and wholistic transformation to occur.
I studied Fine Arts as an undergraduate at University of Colorado at Boulder and graduated in 2000. I then went on to study Art Therapy & Counseling at Southwestern College in Santa Fe, NM and graduated with a Masters degree in 2014. Towards the end of my studies in New Mexico I chose to focus in on addiction recovery and have since worked with myriad families, couples, individuals, groups, adolescents, and adults.
In addition to my private practice, I currently work with two agencies; one that serves individuals recovering from Opioid Addiction and another that specializes in Eating Disorder recovery. In 2020 I was accepted into a year long continuing education program with Dr. Gabor Mate and was pleased with the depth of experience and education I received, regarding the Wisdom of Trauma and Compassionate Inquiry skills.
Over the years I have also studied with various teachers in Non-Violent Communication skills, and am currently in an 5 month long learning program with Thomas Hubl, which focuses on the integration of Individual, Ancestral, and Collective Trauma.
I moved to Maui in 2001 and have been blessed to call this beloved island home for over two decades now. I came to study massage therapy and graduated in 2002 from the Maui School of Therapeutic Massage. The many years of experience I have had as both a massage therapist and Yoga instructor have informed my counseling practice greatly.
I enjoy inviting clients to open to more somatic awareness as they traverse the endless pathways of the psyche,
be it through speaking, writing, art-making, or movement.
I look forward to connecting!
A hui hou,
Dominique 🐚
