I received my Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Juvenile Delinquency from California State University, Sacramento in 2006 and received my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of San Francisco in 2017. I have over 15 years of experience in providing residential, school and community-based services to youth and young adults involved in the juvenile justice system, supporting youth and young adults and families cope with severe behavioral/emotional difficulties, as well as working with a variety of mental health issues.

For the last 15 years I have worked in the non-profit setting as a therapist as well as in Program management. I have significant experience working with youth and young adults that struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, and at-risk behaviors. I utilize a variety of approaches including family systems, play therapy, mindfulness, trauma-focused cognitive-behavioral, strengths based, solution-focused and narrative therapy. I am trained in Triple P, Motivational Interviewing, Crisis Prevention Intervention, Trauma-Focused CBT, Mindfulness Applications and am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I am a bilingual/bicultural Latina that enjoys spending time with family, reading, watching movies, traveling and most importantly playing with my fur-baby Tucker.
