About me
Compassionate, interactive, and experienced psychologist here to help you move out of victim/survivor mode and learn to thrive! Whether you struggle with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, addiction, PTSD, relationship stress or general life struggles, I will do my best to give you new tools to enliven your well-being and and bring a more positive outlook on life. Thank you for considering me to be a part of your healing journey!
Reaching out for help can be a very scary and confusing process. "What do I ask?" "How will I know if this person can help me?" These are but a couple of the many questions you may have when beginning your search. Even if you have been in therapy previously, starting again with a new person can be daunting. So, congratulations for taking this first step!
What's of great importance is finding the right fit. Sometimes you will just know intuitively while, other times, you may want to know specific details about a psychotherapist's experience and background. So here are a few details about me. Feel free to also visit my website at www.drdebraonline.com for a more comprehensive overview of my practice and experience.
I knew I wanted to be a psychologist by the age of 12! Helping people has always been a passion of mine and I'm ever so grateful to have had the opportunity to help hundreds of people overcome their life struggles and become happier and more fulfilled. I've been trained in many different modalities including Gestalt, family systems, psychodynamic, object-relations, DBT, EFT, CBT, EMDR (eye-movement desensitization reprocessing for trauma) and others. In my practice, I draw from all of these treatment styles to try to find the best interventions specific to each client's individual needs and goals. I work with individuals, couples and families with depression, anxiety, trauma/PTSD, eating disorders, addiction, and especially relationship struggles (i.e., infidelity, divorce, conflict, abandonment fears).
I've also written four published books including: Healing the Sensitive Heart, Your Boss Is Not Your Mother, Dump That Chump and Don't Call Me a Drama Queen. I hosted my own podcast for four years reaching a million listeners. Also, having appeared on many national television and radio shows has allowed me to reach larger audiences for my message: learn how to overcome adversity and THRVE. I would love the opportunity to share my professional and personal experience to help you also transform trauma into triumph--finding self-love, inner-strength, fulfillment and deepening the quality of your relationships with others!
