My name is Dawn Palumbo-Madera and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Addictions Professional. I specialize in adults with mental health and/or substance abuse disorders. What I enjoy about my work is being able to be a part of an individual’s journey towards change. If you are really serious about wanting to change, I’m the kind of Counselor who can lend a hand. I’ve been there, I’ve helped others, and if you let me, I believe I know how to help you, too.
I consider counseling/therapy to be my only career; however, I have a strong background in office administration.
I wanted diversity in the individuals I served therefore I chose internships, residencies, and jobs that would expand my knowledge, skill, and ability in working with varying populations within the mental health and substance abuse communities.
I was raised in New York City by parents who suffered from multiple chronic medical conditions, addiction issues, and their own traumas; both being in and out of hospitals from the time I turned 11.
Growing up in such a multicultural melting pot, I have the ability to build quick rapport with individuals receiving services having the resiliency and blunt, straight-forward nature to create deeper therapeutic connections.
In 2019 I received specialized training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy.
I believe that ART is revolutionizing trauma treatment for both the patient and the counselor.
