About me
I have worked with dozens of individuals of all races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, gender identities, age, and socioeconomic backgrounds. I have effectively treated anxiety, depression, and trauma, along with a variety of other common, distressing conditions, including obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic, grief, addiction, and family and relationship difficulties.
My professional style is informed by my training, experience, and perhaps most importantly, by my personal experience in what works. I believe that better mental health happens through a combination of empathy, insight, and conscious changes in how we think and behave. I borrow from various disciplines, but broadly speaking I strive to:
Target and change cognitive-behavioral patterns that are causing you distress, including the beliefs and behaviors that may be holding you back from building a life worth living. (CBT/DBT)
Leverage and strengthen the connection between body and mind. The research shows that stress, trauma, and emotional wounds are stored and expressed in the body, and can be effectively treated there. (Trauma-focused CBT, Lifespan Integration).
Build insight into how your past affects your present, consciously and unconsciously, and provide experiences in new ways of feeling and acting. (Psychodynamic)
If this sounds like a reasonable path to reaching your goals, I would be honored to walk it alongside you. I offer initial 30-minute consultations, free of charge, to see if I might be a good fit for you.
