About me

I offer counsel to seniors, adults, and young adults experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, life adjustments, and phobias. My approach is rooted in a traditional Christian perspective and fortified by a Cognitive and Dialectic Behavior Therapy orientation.

The Mission;
Siloam Christian Counseling takes it name and its mission from the well-known passage found in the Gospel of John. As so often is the case, it was on the Sabbath that Jesus chose to heal a man who, through no fault of his own, was born in blindness. That he did so one the Sabbath, a day in which work of most kinds were prohibited by most schools of Jewish theology, is not meant to show Christ’s disdain for Jewish law, but to establish that he is the law giver and that the time of simple rote obedience to rules was coming to an end. It was also a time when many superstitions surrounding the nature of illness were corrected. In ancient Palestine, physical affliction was considered a punishment for personal or familial sin. So often we lay the blame for our suffering directly on our own shoulders. Even on those occasions when set our course in life before pre-school or kindergarten and with no real understanding of the world around us. Many times our choices we made and the values we developed were powerfully influenced by family, social pressure, or even traumatic events over which we had little (if any) control. Is it a wonder that we become lost in this blind meander through life? The good news is that Jesus heals blindness, and fortunately for you, he is the first person you will see when your spiritual vision is restored and your psychoemotional healing begins.

When Do I Need Counseling
Not every issue or problem will require the help of a counselor. The rule, loose as it may be, is that you may need help when an emotion, behavior, or thought prevents you from easily conducting your daily affairs over a significant period of time or when you are considering hurting yourself or someone else. . At times you may be struck with sudden grief; at other times you may be paralyzed by long-standing sadness. It may be that you are frustrated with meeting day to day goals, or you may be ground down by a gnawing anxiety that causes you to want to give up on ever finding a place of personal contentedness. You should know that you were designed to require both a mission in life as well as peace of mind and spirit. When we find these, we also find we want very little else. It is the mission and call of Siloam Christian Counseling to help you in this search.

In this world, everyone will face challenges that seem too great to overcome. At times our problems seem so overwhelming that our daily life is exceptionally difficult and painful. Often our response to inordinate suffering is anxiety and depression; we often shut down and withdraw from family, friends, career - even our Father - in order to escape despair.

The mind, spirit, and body are a complex unity, and personal issues must be dealt with on all three levels to achieve health. Complete healing comes to the whole person, or not at all. Christ has given you the power and responsibility to set and reach your psycho-spiritual goals, but to obtain peace you must be willing to partner with him in faith and work.
