About me
For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be a therapist. I appreciate the vulnerability it takes to ask for help, and I feel honored to walk with others as they grow healthier and more satisfied with their lives. I believe that change is possible with open-mindedness, honesty and willingness.
I remember how confused and overwhelmed I felt when I was unsure about what to do in my marriage. Should I stay? Should I go? Is this just how marriage is? How do I know I am doing the right thing? How might my decisions impact my kids? Why do I feel like a failure?
At other times, I have found myself at different kinds of crossroads. When I tried to “muscle through,” my anxiety just grew as I continued to disregard clear signs that things were not “right.” What I was doing was not working, and something had to give.
Since then, I have learned that in order to feel content and satisfied, we must honor, and live in alignment with our core values. We must learn how to be totally honest and willing to take uncomfortable, but ultimately gratifying steps. When we move through healthy challenges, we learn to trust ourselves, have self-compassion and compassion for others.
In addition to my education and years working in the field, I bring years of education and personal experience navigating divorce, making a career change, and in recovery. I have gained flexibility, gratitude, a feeling of personal grounding, and joy.
Therapy is not a “one size fits all” process. I provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where we develop a relationship built on respect and trust. In that space, we work together to create an individualized treatment plan that addresses your unique needs. I help you recognize roadblocks that cause you to feel frustrated and unsure of yourself. Together, we shed light on new pathways that lead to greater confidence, freedom from doubt and worry, and greater joy.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a former criminal defense lawyer. In addition, I have been an Adjunct Professor in the Master’s of Psychology program at Pepperdine University. Most importantly, I am a proud mother of three amazing (and often challenging) teenage daughters.
