Finding the right therapist can be an overwhelming process, especially in times of distress. I welcome the opportunity to talk with you, answer any questions, and see if I may assist you in your journey toward healing and health.

I am a licensed professional counselor who received my PhD in counseling from the University of Virginia. Over the course of my career, I have worked in a variety of settings including schools, agencies, universities, and private practices.

Before moving with my family to the Charlottesville area, I owned my own private practice, Northern Virginia Counseling, for a decade. In my practice, I worked with clients on a variety of issues including grief, recovery, family relationships, anxiety, and issues related having a family member who is struggling with substance use disorder. I also enjoyed working with clients who had other challenges in their family, such as having a child with special needs or behavioral issues, as well as having a parent who has physical or emotional challenges.

I have served as adjunct faculty for George Washington University and Argosy University. I have advanced certification in the treatment of trauma and have published writings and presented on topics related to issues such as self-injury, perfectionism, and children of alcoholics. I have facilitated numerous counseling groups, including those focused on healthy relationships, recovery from bulimia, domestic violence, divorce, and caregivers of the elderly. I am a member of the American Counseling Association and have been trained as Hospice volunteer. I also am certified as a Grief Educator.
