I am a licensed psychologist with over 25 years of experience whose goal is always to meet people where they are and to assist them in finding peace and freedom in the midst of life's joys and challenges.
For many years I worked in a University Counseling Center with young adults and non-traditional aged students. I also offered life development coaching to university employees for several years. I currently work in a private practice called the Mercy Consultation Center, which is sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy and so is reflective of their values.
I provide support for clients, ages 21 and up, who might be struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, life transitions of all kinds, stress management, family issues, relationship issues, identity issues, self-esteem and more. Also, although I am not a certified spiritual director, my work is holistic in nature, and so I do work with those struggling with their spirituality as well.
I see therapy as a collaborative and empowering process that can create new insights and new pathways to positive change in clients' lives. My therapy approach is a blend of client-centered, humanistic, and cognitive behavioral perspectives. These blended approaches mean that I trust in the client’s strengths and inner knowing. It also means that at times I will assist and support clients in challenging thoughts and beliefs that are unhelpful to living the life they want to live, as well as provide guidance for new behaviors that support changes clients want to make (examples could include learning to navigate difficult conversations with others rather than avoiding them, learning to be assertive, learning new stress management practices, etc.). In addition, therapy with me also includes an integration of mindfulness, which may include mindful awareness techniques, mindful pauses, and mindfulness meditation.
