About me
When seeking to better your mental and emotional well-being, you should find someone with professional knowledge, yet can personally relate. I 'am a Licensed Professional Counselor who is dedicated to helping women develop into the best versions of themselves through practical and evidenced based strategies.
Chavara attended Paul Quinn College and later finished her bachelor’s degree at Jarvis Christian College, where she earned a degree in Business Administration. She earned a Master of Arts in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University. She is passionate about working with adult women whether individually or in a group setting. Her interest in this work was inspired by many of the women in her family. Her style is assertive, but empathetic. She specializes in working with individuals who have experienced domestic violence. Additional direct clinical experience consists of working with communication issues, healthy boundary setting, anger management, self-regulation, substance abuse, anxiety, low self-esteem, and depression amongst other issues. Chavara’s success in therapy has been achieved through implementation of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eclecticism, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, Trauma Focused Therapy as well as other modalities.
Sup-HER Circle is a therapeutic space that serves a small group of women simultaneously in the presence of a professional. Sup-HER Circle provides an opportunity for women to have real life conversations about real life experiences. Discussing issues that remind one of the past can be painful as one’s issues vary at different degrees of seriousness coupled with those around them wishing we would just “let it go!” Sharing our stories in an atmosphere of safety creates change within us, and those around us, as we come to learn we do not have to GROW through our issues alone. Change is not easy and if gone unchallenged, nothing changes. Therefore, our purpose at Sup-HER Circle is to help you recognize the areas you desire to change and assist you in obtaining the necessary tools to implement the changes you wish to see in your life.
Chavara enjoys spending time with family, friends, brunch, traveling, shopping, reading and watching episodes of Law and Order SVU. Chavara genuinely believes “self-love is the best love” and takes pride in her commitment to self and dedicating the same energy and compassion to those she serves. Chavara primarily grew up in a single parent family and often times was told by her mother "you create your own path in life." Her desire to help others and empower women to know that no matter what has happened "you create your own path in life," influenced her passion for this work. One of her favorite quotes states "the fall is inevitable, but the bounce back is a choice." Collaboratively, we can move forward in FAITH or fall back in FEAR!
I look forward to serving you in future group sessions!
