About me

Clinical social worker (associate) specializing in work with individuals with hoarding behaviors as well as helping adult children work through the impacts of growing up with a parent who suffers from mental illness or substance abuse. Trained in EMDR for trauma, CBT/ERP for working with avoidance/anxiety. Offers Christian counseling to those who are seeking to integrate their Christian faith into therapy also.

Hoarding disorder is misunderstood by many, but the impacts for those who love to collect and struggle to make decisions and let go of accumulated possessions is very real, often causing shame and frustration for those whose things have taken over their lives. My experience working with these "Finders/Keepers" or "Creative Collectors" has spanned more than a decade. Additionally, family members and spouses are often deeply impacted by their loved one's hoarding, bearing wounds that drive a wedge between them, resulting in feelings that they matter less than their loved one's possessions. Extensive work with "Finders/Keepers", with couples where hoarding is present, and for adult children who are waiting with the expectation that they will have to intervene when a parent's hoarding situation becomes unmanageable.

Although work to break unhealthy patterns is challenging, progress is possible. I utilize a trauma-informed lens and rely upon family systems theory to view each client's situation as the natural result of their experiences while challenging them to develop healthier beliefs, new responses to discomfort and anxiety, and to take proactive steps toward creating the lives they want for themselves.

Currently, I offer private pay sessions only. Sliding fee is available (but I will not provide a superbill to clients who are using the Sliding Fee).
