About me

Hello, my name is Carly Jane Herbert, and I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, LMFT, #96671, but my main focus is providing people with the proper tools to accomplish their goals. I have been granted the opportunity to be allowed into other’s lives for over 8 years, and I love what I do. Majority of my clients know what they want, and I am here to help them find their path on their own terms. But for those who don’t, I am here to provide them with the proper tools to get there. I would love the opportunity to help you with any challenges that you find yourself facing and will provide you with the tools to help you achieve your goals… and in the process, I will be your biggest encourager.

I graduated from California Baptist University with a Master’s in Counseling Psychology and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from California State University, San Bernardino. In addition to this, I also have a Drugs and Alcohol Studies Certification from San Bernardino Valley College. I have completed training in Emotional Transformation Therapy which is a form of therapy that often rapidly alleviates emotional distress, as well as physical pain that has been caused by that stress. I have also done Cognitive Behavioral Interventions with Trauma in School Groups with teenagers. Some of my work also includes Family Re-Unification Programs where substance abuse and domestic violence were the main challenges for the clients. Following that, I have worked closely with the Riverside Sheriff’s Department In-Custody Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Program as a Correctional Counselor. I was humbled to work with law enforcement and other correctional Professionals to help improve the lives of people who wanted to change their lives around. I most recently worked at Renewing Hope Family Counseling Center where I was one of the Lead Clinicians. There I worked with individuals, children, families, and couples progress to having better lives on their terms. I also became trained in working with the Transgender community and worked with clients going through the transition process.

My 3 main principles are: Effective- focused on producing the client’s desired results, Thorough-completely resolving the client’s problems, and Timely- being able for the client to see progress within a timely manner. These principles have helped others make better choices in their lives and bring a level of functioning that was missing before sessions started. Some of my greatest strengths are my abilities to be empathetic and compassionate to the struggles my clients go through. Some of my hobbies are doing puzzles with my family, exercising, and watching sports. When asked what my purpose in life is; my answer to this is to spread joy. As a therapist, I must have joy to spread it so as I will encourage self-care to my clients it is important for me to model it as well. Therapy is my calling and again I love what I do. I truly hope you allow me on this journey with you.
