About me

My name is Carissa Weber. I am an outdoor enthusiast dedicated to helping adults return to enjoying their own lives.

As a therapist, I use a blend of treatment modalities, neuroscience, and sarcasm to help clients build on their strengths to rediscover who they are. When we work together, you will have a safe place to share your experience in a judgment-free zone. Rather than "jump to conclusions'' and make uncomfortable treatment recommendations to you after the first session, I will take time to get to know who you are, understand what you are facing, and help you explore ways to relieve your anxiety, depression, and self-doubt.

I’ve worked to create the kind of non-judgmental therapy space where I’d want to find myself as a client—where one can ugly cry & make dark-humored jokes within the same session.

I specialize in helping adults with:
-The anxiety and depression that comes with the uncertainty of life
- Overcoming the pain of self-doubt and perfectionistic behavior

I thrive when sessions are collaborative and connected, rather than cold and clinical. My approach is to create a partnership with you, where we’ll work together to identify your needs and make progress toward the goals that you set for yourself.
My practice is inclusive, anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and affirming of all identities. In my work, I honor the autonomy and integrity of the people coming to me for help.

When we work together, I will:
- Give you the tools you need to withstand the difficult emotions that come up when setting boundaries with others and yourself
- Teach you how to break big problems down into smaller, achievable steps
- Provide you with space to talk about barriers to your success, and work with you to find ways to overcome those barriers
- Help you come to a deeper understanding of who you are and where you’re going in your life

Concerns and issues I am passionate about working with include anxiety, depression, adult ADHD, substance use, LGBTQ+, athletes, perfectionist behavior, and challenging self-doubt.

As a human, I am an active wife and mom of three. My husband and I own and operate a small farm that is dedicated to preserving the Heritage Walking Horse breed while teaching our children the way of life both my husband and I grew up with. For me, spending time outside is not just with my horses, but it is with my gardens, practicing QDM and forestry stewardship, and watching the joy the outdoors brings to my children. When I am not living the life outside, I am inside squashing the stigma of mental health with my blog, That Darn Amygdala

As someone who weathers the storms of anxiety, depression, burnout, and ADHD (and all while being a wife, mom, farmer, therapist, and writer), I respect the step you’re taking to create a better life for yourself. You don’t have to keep feeling stressed, and you don’t have to go through this journey alone. When we work together, we will create a partnership that places you as the captain of your treatment. If you need time to work through some of life's curveballs, that is fine. You want to learn about specific skills to use during an anxiety attack, you got it. Need a safe place to share your frustrations, I am here.

My values as a mental health professional include:
-To do no harm
-Working in the best interests of my clients
-Advocacy and support at any and all levels possible
- Adhere to the ethical and legal requirements of my profession

I operate from the belief of:
- Inclusion
- Anti-racism
- Anti-bigotry
- Anti-ableism
- Anti-oppression
- Anti-diet culture
- LGBTQIA2S+ affirmation
- Body positivity and acceptance
- Honoring the dignity, identities, and self-determination of the people who work with me

Services and Fees
What does it cost to work with me? Great Question! My scheduled fees are as follows:
- $200 for an initial intake session that is 55 minutes long
- $150 for a 55-minute individual session after the initial intake
- $260 for a 90-minute intensive individual session
Payments are due at the time of the appointment.
Payments are accepted through IvyPay. This is a HIPAA-approved payment system that keeps your identification information safe and private. It also allows me to keep your information on file for quick and easy payment.

I understand life gets in the way. As a farmer, animals break through fences. Hay has to get made. Vet emergencies happen. I have a 24-hour cancellation policy that allows me to meet the needs of other clients. If you need to cancel within that 24-hour window, please do so as soon as possible. If I am able to fill your original appointment time, there will be no fee charged to you. If I am unable to, there will be a $50 fee. If you do not cancel your session and do not show up to your session at the scheduled time, you will be charged the full session fee of $150

I currently do not accept insurance. This may be scary, but paying for therapy outside of your insurance has several benefits to you, including:
- You get to choose to work with a therapist that aligns with you, not with someone your insurance chooses
- Any mental health diagnoses made when you pay privately stay out of your medical history
- You can see a therapist as many times as you need, not just the amount your insurance company will pay for
- You get to decide if your therapy is needed versus your insurance company denying care if it isn't "medically necessary"
- There is no fear of your insurance company denying your visit with me
I do have the ability to create a superbill you can submit to your insurance company if you would like them to reimburse you directly for your services, which still keeps your information and diagnoses between you and me.
