About me

I am an experienced individual and couples therapist who is dedicated to helping those who suffer from anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment issues, grief and loss, and chronic pain.

During times of trauma, pain and hardship many people do not have the support they need to bear their emotional struggles. They can often find themselves turning to unhealthy coping skills as a way to protect themselves from overwhelming or painful feelings. These coping skills may have worked well in the past, but may not be as useful in your adult life, and in fact may actually be causing you harm. Therapy can be a place where we can collaborate on the internal emotional issues that are causing you pain so that we can help you gain new coping skills and feel more calm and courageous in your life. Together, we can provide a safe and supportive environment so we can get to the root of your pain to allow for greater connection with yourself and your relationships.

I use three specific approaches to the therapy process, including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) as a way to help guide the therapeutic process. These approaches help navigate long standing patterns so people can face inner aspects of their lives that have been previously avoided. Processing feelings and inner conflicts can facilitate transformation, strength and a deeper connection to oneself and others. My approach to the therapy process is collaborative and personalized so that your needs and goals can be met in a timely manner and with compassionate care.

My main focus is ISTDP, which is an evidence-based psychotherapy with extensive research to support its effectiveness in helping people recover from attachment trauma, somatization, anxiety, chronic pain, unexplained medical conditions and severe depression. You can find more information, including current research on this approach at the websites below.
