Verified clinicians have had their licenses confirmed by our staff at the time they create their profile. We also require all verified therapists keep their licensing information up to date in order to maintain verified status.
Send your prospective therapist a brief message about why you’re seeking support, your preference for in-person or telehealth services, and how you’d like to be contacted moving forward. Note: Answers to many common questions can be found on the therapist’s profile page. If this is an emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest hospital.
I have worked in a variety of settings with a many hundreds of clients over the past four decades. I have learned a great deal about the human condition and how the psychological, physical, familial, and social conditions in which we live can cause our lives to feel like an overwhelming fight for survival. As human beings we should be able to expect more.
In this counseling practice you will have my full respect and caring as a base on which to build a therapeutic relationship in which you can remember and discover a more authentic, alive version of yourself. We will develop a language and approach that empowers you to look at patterns of self-defeating behavior and thinking. While symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and addictions might be a reason to enter counseling, we can work together to address the pain, trauma and maladaptive coping strategies that perpetuate our suffering .
Many of us have acquired a core belief that we are inherently bad, ‘crazy’ or defective. These beliefs keep us stuck. We need to ask the question, “What happened to you?”, rather than,” What’s wrong with you?”. Very often we will experience difficulties in intimate, familial, social relationships, or that hinder us in our vocational and life goals. Through our work together we will help you find balance as you seek the happiness and success you desire.
I also have a great deal of experience in assisting clients navigate the oppressive/dysfunctional society that we live in. Social oppression harms all of us in different ways. I will bring an awareness of these dynamics and weave them into the therapeutic process, when helpful.
Often, we feel as if we are the problem, rather than the social forces that limit our capacity to live fully and happily. Exploring and understanding how these forces have affected us can help us to identify ways to overcome these challenges. The sometimes unseen forces of ancestral and collective trauma also play a role in inhibiting our wisdom, love and power from being accessible to us and those we care about.
