I am experienced licensed marriage and family therapist and licensed advance alcohol and drug counselor who loves working with adults coping with addiction, recovery issues, grief and loss, anxiety and depression.
What do I do in therapy? I have found that presence is healing for myself and to be healing for others. I Listen. At Rebel Hearts Counseling, Inc, I provide a safe space to hold you. Its’ a unique experience to have the attention of one person, listening to you, feeling your presence, and seeing you. I listen for pattern, track the conversation, noticing how you are engaged in your own narrative, the attachment to your stories that you talk about yourself. I have intuitive senses that allow me to “see” or get a sense of what habits, behaviors, symptoms are destressing you. I am curious and use of open-ended questions, in which I can listen for ways to help you reframe negative thinking. I can integrate various therapeutic skills to discover unhealthy boundaries and help improve communication with self and others-from passive to direct and assertive styles, in order to create healthy boundaries. Also advocate self-worth and confidence.
Therapy is not a place to be fixed, it’s to understand why you’re clinging to the past, old ideas, of self, thoughts, dismissing your values and not taking your place in the world. Learn to walk with freedom. Occupy yourself with living, instead of distress, and learn to create opportunity to improve healing. Let therapy help you explore and challenge your perceptions so you can get back to living, as it has helped me. Use therapy as a space to explore your part of the equation that keeps you “stuck”.
