About me
I am a therapist who brings a warm, compassionate approach to assisting individuals and families with trauma, grief, and chronic illness.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over a decade of experience in the field of mental health. I have found my passion to be working with clients who have experienced trauma, adjusting to or living with chronic illness, navigating grief, or may be struggling with substance use and abuse. The majority of my experience has developed through my work in a hospital setting, where I have spent over six years offering counseling and support. My experience extends from working in a trauma intensive care unit, the emergency department, to acute rehabilitation. I have been present with people in all stages of grief, trauma, illness, and addiction, and guided them toward healing and change, honoring their pace and readiness. It has been my honor to witness growth and healing as it occurs, and to participate in the process.
I bring a warm, empathetic and open approach to counseling to facilitate safety and acceptance from the moment you walk through the door. I utilize EMDR, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and CBT techniques to guide you on your journey of self-discovery. I acknowledge that you are the expert on your own life. I want to help you determine your own goals, and collaborate to find solutions to get you where you want to be. I have a master's degree in social work with an emphasis on mental health and counseling techniques. My direct experiences have focused on providing mental health services, which I am passionate about and believe in wholeheartedly. In addition to clinical medical social work, I have experience in outpatient counseling, domestic violence crisis support, and educational counseling. I have learned that while my preferred therapeutic approaches are highly effective, the most important indicator of successful therapy is the relationship you share with your counselor. I desire to create a genuine and profound bond based on mutual respect, honesty, and empathy, with people from all walks of life.
I believe every person is worthy of love and happiness, and has the ability to make changes and improve their lives, selves, and relationships. My job is to help you get there. If you’re ready, please call or email me and I will be so glad to hear from you.
