About me
I am an experienced trauma therapist who is trained in EMDR. I serve survivors of Domestic Violence in Hot Springs, Arkansas and the surrounding counties. I am dedicated in assisting survivors of DV feel empowered and tap into their natural resources that carried them through. I focus on providing advocacy, individual therapy, group therapy, and support groups. I am funded by various grants; therefore, all of my services are free.
My name is Angela Stein, LCSW and I moved to Arkansas from Texas in 2005 after hearing about a crisis shelter called Potter's Clay Ministry. Due to drug addiction I found myself lost. I was not aware of the lifetime of trauma that was lying underneath the 8 year drug addiction. I attended the 6 month program and graduated with a certificate in Celebrate Recovery a Faith Based 12 step program. After completing the program, and falling in love with Jesus Christ, I became a house mom for 10 years at the shelter. The most rewarding type or work, working with women and children in crisis. While working weekends at the ministry and attending college during the week, I gained first-hand knowledge on how to work with women and children who struggled with abuse, homelessness, and addiction. At the end of my career with Potter's Clay I had obtained 3 degrees an Associates of Arts, Bachelors of Science in Human Services, and Masters in Social Work. After college , I became a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW). I started working at Ouachita Behavioral Health and Wellness (OBHAW) as a school based therapist. I worked at OBHAW for 4 years and gained clinical field experience as a therapist, and became certified in TF-CBT, Anger Management, CBT , and Tele Mental Health. After passing my exam to be a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) , I began to work with survivors of Domestic Violence at Ouachita Family Center (OFC). I have worked with DV survivors since 2020 and love working to empower women in breaking the silence on their abuse. I have been trained in EMDR and consider myself a expert in trauma therapy. At OFC, we offer free therapy to anyone with a history of emotional, sexual, physical abuse, and survivors of human trafficking. We have two houses and an intake office. One of the homes is an emergency shelter to survivors with recent abuse and the other home is transitional living with free rent and utilities for up to a year. Are advocacy program offers crisis intervention, case management, and emotional support to survivors of domestic violence and their children. We also support men or women in obtaining a protective order, supporting them through court proceedings, and offer rapid rehousing to those who find themselves homeless due to domestic violence.
