Welcome! I have been in practice for almost 20 years, and work with children, teens, adults, and families. I provide in home counseling services in the Dexter/Bloomfield area, and also provide telehealth services outside that region. I am a licensed professional counselor, certified family development specialist, certified clinical trauma professional, and board certified clinical hypnotherapist.
My goal is to meet each person wherever they are in the process of healing and change in a compassionate, non-judgmental and honest approach. Together, we will explore your life history, your current situation, and the things you want to change. We will work together to change inaccurate and/or unhelpful thought processes, unhealthy perceptions, insecurities and damaging beliefs in order to overcome any thoughts that are holding you back from living your best life. I call this putting your thoughts on trial. While we cannot always change the circumstances of life, we can change our perception of those circumstances and our reaction to those circumstances. That is a powerful thing, and the power lies within you!
I do not subscribe to one specific counseling technique or approach, but instead draw from a variety of approaches depending on each individual's needs and situation. I tend to use techniques from CBT, EMDR, mindfulness, narrative therapy, existential therapy, and hypnotherapy but do not limit my approach to just these few. I do accept Missouri medicaid, but that is the only insurance I currently accept. However, I can provide a receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement if you so choose.
