About me
I specialize in trauma and mood disorders, and have experience with domestic violence, sexual assault, spiritual and religious trauma, LGBTQIA issues, anxiety, depression, trauma, gender dysphoria, and other issues. I use a mix of therapeutic models including Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and others.
My therapy style is very relaxed. I like to introduce structure when it becomes appropriate (that may be in our first session or fifth, depending on the client). Our first session will be a series of questions about your past experiences that are related to your decision to seek therapy as well as your current challenges and concerns. I suggest homework to clients depending on where they are in their therapeutic journeys, but this too depends on the client and their goals. I am autistic, so other autistic people may feel comfortable working with me. I also have experience with clients with gender dysphoria, mood disorders, religious trauma, and general life stress. I am not the best fit for someone with an active substance use disorder, eating disorder, or personality disorder. I enjoy working with clients who are ready to commit to their mental health and overall well-being.
I like to try to involve my client’s interests in their therapy as much as possible; I think it's very helpful to make connections among pop culture, movies, hobbies, pets, memes, and whatever else my clients enjoy to help them make solid connections between what they are working on in therapy and their experiences in just being human. I have used yoga, TikTok, crafting, and other client interests both in the therapy room and as homework to help them achieve their therapeutic goals. Teach me about your passion, and I will teach you how it can help your mental health!
As your therapist, my biggest priority is YOU. I firmly believe that YOU are in control of the therapeutic process, and this means we will move at whatever pace and use whatever strategies are best for you. Choosing to better yourself through therapy is a big step, and I am happy to be there to support you on your healing journey.
